Joe called me about 6:00 the other night and
said that he didn't know if we could go out
because he dropped a 150 to 200 lb. piece
of steel on his foot. He said really calmly too.
So I was a little worried asking him if he was
okay and he said it hurt and he was limping
but he thought he'd be okay. I asked him when
he'd be home and he still had to go to the expo
center for a little bit where their company was
doing the home and garden show. He shows up
at home at 8:30! He says hi to all of us and I look
down at his boot and his boot is cut and he told me
there was blood on his sock. He goes in our bedroom
to take off his boot and sure enough I hear him
yelling for me to bring him a towel. Poor guy, here
you have it. I know it's kinda gross, but I had to get
the close up in here otherwise you can't tell how big the
cut is. Luckily Joe's mom Dea came in and watched the
kids while we took him to the E.R. where we sat and waited
for 2 1/2 hours! That was fun. He's a trooper though.
Just to set the record straight on what happened. He
was loading a crane extender and he had another guy
helping him. The other guy dropped his end and Joe
didn't see him so it slipped out of Joe's hand too. Landed
right on top of his foot. The doctor was shocked that
he didn't break his foot. Lucky he had really good boots
on. He said if he would have been wearing tennis shoes
or something he probably would have lost a toe and broke
his foot. His bone is pretty sore but he's hoping to play
basketball again next week!
