It's always fun to read about how people fell in
love and so at the request of a friend here is our
story. I'm horrible at telling stories because I
feel like I have to include every detail, but I'm
g0ing to try and keep this short and sweet.
We first saw each other when I was working at
Maurices. Joe, Dea(his mom) and Jentry (his
sister) came in to get an outfit for a institute
dance for Jentry. Joe was just hanging back
the whole time and I thought he was Jentry's
boyfriend so I didn't think much about it. Plus
I was dating someone for a long time anyway.
About 2 weeks later Dea came back in the store
and asked if I was dating someone which I told
her yes and she said that as soon as they left the
store the first thing Joe said was that I was "hot".
We laughed and she said if something changes to
call her. This was just before Christmas. Well,
she would be in and out and I would help do her
shopping. As we were talking she laughed and it
sounded like someone I knew. A lady in my parents
ward and so I asked her about it and she said that
it was her sister. Well, my brother Paul dated Joe's
cousin for quite a while and come to find out Joe
played football with Paul in the Shrine game and
Paul even said you should take my sister out and
Joe said maybe if she didn't live in Buhl. It's just
weird because I know they played sports against
each other and I was at every one of those games.
There were so many times that we should've met
somehow, but obviously the time wasn't right.
So, as soon as we figured out the connection we just
laughed and left it at that. Well, after Christmas
I decided that this boy I was dating wasn't for me
(finally) for those who knew him! I told my mom
to call Joe's aunt and tell her to tell Dea that I would
go on a date if he was still interested. (So high school!)
After a few days of phone tag and messages we finally
talked. It was a Saturday and I talked to him on my
break from work so we set a date for the next Monday
because I had to close the store that night. Well,
about 8:30 him and his friend Brad showed up
at the store and he just said why don't we watch a
movie or something tonight. So me and a friend went
out to his house that night and were there until about
3 or 4 in the morning watching movies and playing
video games. Then at the end of the night we just said
goodbye and that was kind of it. I wasn't sure if we
were still on for Monday or not. So on Sunday I kinda
waited for him to call and he never did so I thought
maybe that was the end of it. Well, first thing monday
morning I get a call from him and we went up to the
South hills and went tubing with a couple of friends.
Then that night we went to a movie and then just went
back to his house for a bit. As I left let's just say the first
"kiss" was definitely not as good as it gets. I was a little
worried. Ya know how when you kiss someone and it's just
awkward and not good? That was how it was for both of us.
I think we both decided we would try it one more time.
The next night we went to his sisters basketball game and
then really, the rest is history. Let's just say that the second
kiss more than made up for the first. We were glued to each
other for the next month. We were just exhausted from being
up so late and getting up so early. I love that whirl wind
romance part. Isn't love is fun? Well that thursday we said
I love you to each other. I mean it was like a brick hit
us over the head or something. My brother got married
after 6 months of dating and I thought he was crazy, but
once I met Joe I knew how it could happen. We had so much
in common and just loved being together. He proposed
on Valentines Day exactly one month after our first date.
We were married on June 30 in the Salt Lake temple.
He really is such a great husband the best daddy and
just an overall good guy. I don't know anyone that
doesn't like Joe. He's so easy going and laid back.
Valentines Day is always really special to me because
it was the day he proposed. This year he suprised me a
little early. On the Friday before we were going to go
out with some friends to dinner, but he was running
late at work. About 6:00 he called me and said he'd be
home in about an hour and to get ready to go out. Our
friends were going to eat at 6:30 so I said don't worry
about it that we would be too late. He said "I've a had
a date planned this whole week for us and that the
babysitter (Beejae) would be there at 7:00. Let me just
say that with twins, well any kids for all you "moms" out
there it's hard to go out alone. I couldn't even remember
the last time we went out without the kids. It was so
sweet of him. We went to dinner at Johnny's "our spot"
and he had planned to take me to Fools Gold, but we
were running too late so we went to get ready.............
....................................27 dresses! Yep, that's right a
total chick flick. He really hates chick flicks, but he
said that it was my night and he would go to whatever
I wanted to see. That right there is love! It was the best
because he did it on a day that he didn't have to and
I'd much rather it be that then on a day he's required
to, ya know?! Babe, I love you. What a guy! This post
is forever long I know, Sorry! I want to read about
all my friends love stories. It just makes you fall
in love all over again when you talk about it.
